After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, Houma welcomed many evacuees fleeing the devastation caused by the storm. During that Christmas season, Houma experienced a tremendous surge in traffic, and Christmas shoppers. It was at this time, while doing my own “last minute” Christmas shopping, I noticed a need for new, and
unique gifts items, as most merchandise had been picked over.

Being a boutique shopper during my travels and vacations, I thought a new boutique might be just what Houma needed. With the help of my brother Chris, who lives in Los Angeles and works as a set designer, I set out on a fact-finding mission to California to explore and study in “Boutique Heaven”. After returning and with the help of my husband, Tommy, Periwinkle Pink Gifts was born! I knew the only person to share this entrepreneurial experience with was my daughter Lindsay, another boutique shopping fanatic. At the time Lindsay was living in Baton Rouge, and attending LSU. After some coaxing, Lindsay decided to return to Houma to embark on this new endeavor.

In September 2006, we opened the doors to Periwinkle Pink Gifts, named after my granddaughter Hannah’s new bedroom colors periwinkle and pink. Starting off small and renting on Enterprise Drive, we decided to purchase land down the street to build a larger location in the future.

After the first year, the owners of The Christmas Place approached us with an offer to purchase their business. The Christmas Place has always been Houma’s premier must stop location for fabulous Christmas decorations, unique florals, and wreaths. With little hesitation, we decided to purchase it.

While keeping the tradition of excellence and quality of the original Christmas Place the same, (a nod to past owners' hard work), we added some of our own flare. After the first year of running both locations, it was now time to combine both stores under one roof.

Our new location at 146 Enterprise Drive has a room dedicated to all of your bridal registry needs. We also have a huge Christmas/Seasonal room to showcase our vast selection of whimsical Christmas trees, ornaments and holiday decorating items. In our main show room, you will find items for home decorating and unique, fun gifts that our “in style” customers are searching for.
